Meet the Team Behind Biztec

Joe began the Biztec company in 2008, and since then has provided organizations nationwide with solutions that exceed expectations. In addition to leading Biztec, Joe launched the WV-Tech Guy blog as a resource for businesses looking to better understand cybersecurity, IT strategy, and emerging technology trends. Through this platform, he shares practical insights and industry expertise tailored to today’s evolving digital landscape. With an MBA from West Virginia University (C/O 2005) and a BSBA, specializing in Organizational Management from Ohio Valley University (C/O 2003), Joe's knowledge and dedication in cybersecurity is underscored by his CISSP certification.

Ron was hired as the Director of Operations in 2021.  From day one he hit the ground running increasing operational efficiencies. With a Master’s Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics and a Master’s Certificate in Applied Project Management, Ron’s knowledge and dedication in Project Management and Logistics has permeated throughout the organization.

Doug Cummings, a Senior Project Manager, has been at Biztec for over four years. With two associate’s degrees in computer science and an extensive background in project management and IT, he leads complex low voltage security system projects from planning to completion. In every project, Doug works diligently to ensure timelines, budgets, and client expectations are met with precision. He thrives in dynamic environments that require adaptability, problem solving, and innovation in fast-paced environments.  Doug’s decade of experience in project management allows him to approach each challenge with strategic insight and technical fluency. As a Verkada Certified Engineer in Access Control and Alarms, he brings a specialized skill set to the security space, all while continuing to grow his knowledge and expertise. Outside of work, Doug enjoys woodworking, PC gaming, and the adventures of fatherhood.

Evan loves to fix things and get our customer's technology back up and running. He is an expert in the IT industry and utilizes his experiences to improve operations both in-house and for our clients.  Evan is a Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate and Sophos Firewall Engineer, and pairs this education with that of his Associates Degree. His education has prepared him to address IT issues, no matter how small or large, making him an incredible asset at Biztec.

Morgan began her leadership journey early, becoming a bank manager at just 23 years old—an experience that shaped her people-first leadership style and laid the foundation for her career. ​ With a background in business administration from Northwestern State University, she has built her career around developing people, driving performance, and delivering measurable results. Morgan is equally committed to delivering real value to customers—always doing the right thing and fostering long-term partnerships built on transparency, integrity, and results.​

Emily joined Biztec in January 2022 as a Marketing Specialist and quickly advanced to Director of Sales and Marketing, where she played a key role in shaping the company’s growth strategy. As her impact expanded, so did her responsibilities, evolving into a broader leadership role aligned with co-ownership. Graduating with a Marketing degree from Marietta College, Emily exudes dedication to continuous learning, adept leadership, and the empowerment of her peers in decision-making. Her journey underscores a commitment to driving growth and innovation within the sales and marketing landscape.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kent now resides in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he serves as an Account Executive for Biztec. In this role, he is focused on helping clients eliminate technology headaches so they can concentrate on their daily responsibilities. Kent brings a strong focus on client acquisition and retention, shaped by hands-on experience in the field with Cintas and Verkada. That experience later led him into a leadership role at an integrator, where he oversaw complex project rollouts from start to finish. This background allows him to better understand and relate to the real-world challenges his clients face, making his approach both practical and solutions driven. He earned his education in Finance and Marketing from Ohio University, equipping him with a well-rounded foundation in both business strategy and relationship management. Driven by a commitment to delivering a premier customer experience, Kent thrives in team-oriented environments—something rooted in his background in competitive sports, where collaboration and performance go hand in hand. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, spending time with family, and taking walks with his dog. He is also actively involved in his community, serving on the board of Kearney Center, a comprehensive emergency resource center for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. His involvement began through a professional connection but quickly evolved into a personal commitment to supporting the organization’s mission. A milestone he is especially proud of is his recent engagement to his partner of three years this past February.

Ian brings more than six years of technology sales experience, including leadership and enterprise security expertise from Verkada, where he advanced from Account Executive to Senior Account Executive, and later Regional Sales Manager. Ian’s passion for building relationships and delivering customer-focused solutions makes him a perfect fit for Biztec’s mission of protecting people, property, and operations through innovative physical security and technology solutions.

Alex is the one you most frequently speak to when you call into the Help Desk! Biztec welcomed Alex to the team in 2019. He followed in his father’s footsteps and entered the IT industry in 2004 to utilize his knowledge and expertise. Alex grew up with computers laying around and has been fixing IT issues since the time of dial-up internet.

Alex is a former Electrical Equipment Repair Specialist Marine Corporal, serving two tours of duty in Djibouti, Africa and Iraq. With 13 years of IT experience, Alex has been a part of the Biztec family since January 2023. Soon he will be adding Cyber Security certifications to his resume and currently enjoys the implementation process of IT projects. Alex loves working for Biztec because “There is always a new adventure!”

Zack Dowler, Project Manager and Access Control Specialist, has been part of Biztec’s team for over five years. Originally joining the company as an Installation Tech, he spent three years working hands-on with various products and equipment. During this time, Zack gained a deep understanding of the various technologies Biztec implements, creating a foundation that allowed him to transition into his current role as Project Manager seamlessly. Today, Zack oversees the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Zach Ratliff, a Senior Cable Technician specializing in access control and video security, has been with Biztec for over three years. He handles all aspects of physical security systems from installing door hardware and cameras to ensuring every project meets the Biztec standard of quality. While his career began in the food industry, his desire to build a better future for his family led him to pursue a new path in the IT industry, one where he has thrived. Today, Zach holds 30E and 35E Electrical Security Technician certifications, along with safety and lift operation credentials, and takes pride in learning new skills and supporting his team on every job site. His biggest motivation, however, is providing for his family and continuing to grow in a trade he genuinely enjoys. When he’s not on the job, Zach enjoys spending with his loved ones, playing Call of Duty: Warzone, and riding dirt bikes.

Donnie has always been drawn to IT and loves learning new things. Though he studied computer science at WVUP, his real education has come from hands-on experience. After nine years at The Blennerhassett Hotel, he was ready for a change, leading Donnie to Biztec in 2020. Known for his hard work, he takes pride in getting the job done right, making customers happy, and building strong connections with his team.
