Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 update, known as KB5063878, has been linked to widespread issues with solid state drives (SSDs).

Reports indicate that during large file transfers, often over 50 GB and especially when drives are more than 60 percent full, some SSDs are disappearing from the system. In certain cases, drives have not recovered even after a reboot.Independent testing has confirmed that multiple SSD models, many using Phison controllers, are vulnerable. Microsoft and its partners are investigating, but no permanent fix has been released at this time.

Windows 11 Update: Why It Matters for Your Business

If you rely on large file transfers, backups, or data heavy applications, this update poses a serious risk. An unexpected drive failure could mean downtime, data loss, and costly recovery efforts. Even if your systems appear unaffected today, the risk remains until the issue is fully resolved.
